Almaden Quicksilver Park - California - June
We ran a few errands, then drove through town to
this huge park within the city. We were warned not
to eat any of the dirt due to the mercury which was
mined here to be used in gold processing, so we
didn't !
There were so many trails, nicely maintained, that
we just started hiking willy-nilly. I had brought
along my hand lens (I really like it - 10 power lens
is perfect for me) and enjoyed looking at things
close up. I have it with me always now.
We were fortunate enough to spend some trail
time with an interesting gentleman who knows the
park inside and out. The photographs on this page
are his - he very kindly offered them. Please
check his webpages, as he has some of the most
fantastic wildlife and wildflower photos you'll ever
see.
